Angelo L. DeFelice (known to all as "Angie") founded ALD Grading Company after serving in the Air Force at Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Lockbourne, Ohio. Although he started his company with only one truck and dozer, the business soon flourished into a successful concrete and grading company, so the company's name changed to ALD Concrete & Grading Co. in 1963. ALD has always been a family business, and over the years, Angie's wife and all three of their children became actively involved in the company.

Always thinking of inventive ways to expand his business, Angie started a precast concrete wall panel division in the early 1980s. The precast production facility was located next to Anderson Concrete Corp., a family-owned ready-mix producer since 1921. Over the years, ALD and Anderson Concrete developed a great working relationship. Recognizing the synergy between the ready-mix and precast companies, four members of the Anderson family purchased ALD in October 2006, and the precast division continued under its new ownership as ALD Precast Corp.

ALD Precast Corp. retained Angie’s namesake in order to honor his legacy in the industry.
